Complex Sentence

A complex sentence has two parts:
a) An independent clause. It is a complete thought and can stand as a sentence by itself.
b) A dependent clause. It is not a complete thougt. It needs to be attached to an independent clause to get its meaning.
Look at the following examples:
a) A computer’s central processing unit (CPU), the part of a computer that interprets and executes instructions, has one or more pipelines.
b) This process is more efficient than it would be if each instruction had to start at the first stage after the previous instruction finished the final stage.
Remember!
A dependent clause can come either before or after an independent clause in a complex sentence. If it come before, it is generally separated from the independent clause by a comma. If it come after, generally, there in no comma between the independent and dependent clause.
Examples:
1) When a sperm fertilizes an egg, the first cell of a new human being, called a zygote, is formed.
2) Fertilization is the process in which a male’s sperm and a female’s egg or ovum fuse together.

Sebuah kalimat kompleks memiliki dua bagian:
a) Sebuah klausa independen. Ini adalah pemikiran yang lengkapdan dapat berdiri sebagai kalimat dengan sendirinya.
b) Sebuah klausul bergantung. Ini bukan thougt lengkap. Perlumelekat pada klausul independen untuk mendapatkan maknanya.
Lihatlah contoh-contoh berikut:

b) Proses ini lebih efisien daripada itu akan jika setiap instruksiharus mulai pada tahap pertama setelah instruksi sebelumnyaselesai tahap akhir.
Ingat!
Sebuah klausa dependen dapat datang baik sebelum atau setelahklausa independen dalam kalimat yang kompleks. Jika datangsebelumnya, umumnya dipisahkan dari klausa independen olehkoma. Jika datang setelah, pada umumnya, tidak ada koma diantara klausa independen dan dependen.

1) Ketika sperma membuahi telur, sel pertama dari seorang manusia yang baru, yang disebut zigot, terbentuk.
2) Pemupukan adalah proses di mana sperma laki-laki dan sel telurwanita atau ovum sekering bersama.
