Budaya Vietnam, Pertunjukan Boneka Air
(Sumber: Air di Negara Asia Pasifik, Ekologi. Asia/ Pacific Culture Centre for UNESCO. Asian/ Pacific Copublication Programme.)
Mercon meledak. Datanglah! Datanglah cepat! Pertunjukan segera dimulai. Terompet berbunyi tiga kali.
Penduduk desa segera mengenali.
“Ya, itu Teu”
“Ah, Teu!”
Gendering berbunyi semakin keras. Dua ekor singa muncul di panggung. Gendering semakin cepat. Sebuah bola muncul. Gendering semakin bertalu-talu.
Singa-singa yang memburu bola menggelombangkan air. Bola bergerak dan tergelincir lepas. Singa merunduk dan berbaring menunggu. Bola bergerak di atas permukaan. Singa berputar, mencari kesempatan menangkap bola yang mudah lari. Penonton menyemangati mereka. Lihat! Lihat!

Rivers, lakes and ponds are everywhere in Vietnam. From generation to generation Vietnamese farmers cultivate the land, plant seeds, and harvest rice in the ground full of water and fish farming in the village pond. Water becomes the center of their lives so they are usually celebrations and performances reflect this reality.
Art of water puppetry is an art that is performed on the lake and the village of Kolan. Come with me to a celebration in the village in the Red River delta! In the pool, they set up theater made of wood, bamboo and cloth. The roof is painted like a tile and dipanggungnya form surface in front of the screen of bamboo.
The afternoon sun faded and villagers gathered to watch, parents and children, families and couples, all people are called to the pond. There was the sound of gongs, cymbals, trumpets and gendering.Firecrackers exploded. Come! Come quickly! Performances begin.Trumpets sounded three times.
The villagers immediately recognize.
"Yes, it Teu"
"Ah, Teu!"
"That Teu!"
Doll, Teu is a young field workers and presenters. He smiled and waved to say hello to everyone. During the show he asked the audience is quiet, he commented on various things and assess village events.
Now came a beautiful dragon, circling and circling the golden circle in the water body. Water gushed from his mouth as he swam across the pond, waving tail. The dragon rising from the top to the theater one block, turning the head, spraying water over into the audience. Then the dragon was down and dance on the water again. Then there is a second dragon spitting fire.
Oh, look! Phoenix bird spread its wings and pecking at the head and neck of a golden turtle swimming and drawing in his head, trying to avoid the phoenix. Gendering sounds louder. Two lions appeared on stage. Gendering faster. A ball appears. Gendering the pounding.
Lions hunt ball menggelombangkan water. The ball moves and slipped off. Lion crouching and lying in wait. The ball moves over the surface. Lions spinning, looking for an opportunity to catch a ball that is easy to run. Spectators cheer them on. See! See! Ball there.Behind you! No, on the front! Quick, quick, quick! "Lion pounced, but missed, they open their eyes wider. Eventually they catch the ball and around the stage, showing off their catch and bowed to thank the viewers who have encouraged them to hunt.
Then came an old man and an old woman carrying a basket of eggs. Suddenly, the eggs hatched and the ducklings emerged. The old man was caring for ducks, to help them look for shrimp and small fish, ducks swimming and diving with the noise of, fighting, then scatter to regroup. A fox settles on stage hoping to catch a duckling. The old couple see and throw. One of the ducks was, too busy looking for food, stray from the flock. He was getting close to the fox. The fox was caught.
The old man was chasing a fox around the stage but could not find it again ducklings. The fox jumped into a tall tree and saw the old couple but can not do anything about it. Puppet show continues. The story is short and followed each other rapidly. The dolls are played daily activities such as plowing, harvesting, gathering wood, fishing, weaving and activities for school children. There are horse racing and bullfighting. Flags and banners unfurled. There is a legend with fantasy animals and fairies. Historical figures appear in the famous battle scene. All activities and stories villagers played above the village pond. Dolls are also reflected in the water reflecting the sky, clouds, trees, and fireworks. Water ripples and waves make the wooden doll that looks alive. The puppeteers stand behind a bamboo screen, submerged in waist-deep water and move the gongs, bells, and strings music instrument accompany the show.
This doll art form has been performed hundreds of years ago by a bevy of special sculpt and paint the dolls and leaving the workings and hidden tools to set the doll. Water puppetry is an art form that is very close to nature and a clear watery pool that is part of every village Vietnam.
